Restore the Broadway Popcorn Wagon
One of the most unique pieces in the Civic Museum of Regina’s collection is the Broadway Popcorn Wagon. The handmade cart was purchased by John Alecxe in 1929. Alexce’s son Harry operated the cart at the corner of Lorne St and Victoria Ave, and would roll the cart out to holiday events and fairs. In the 1940’s the Broadway Popcorn Wagon supplied the Metropolitan, Broadway, and Capitol Theatres with popcorn for hungry movie-goers. The cart continued to operate at various locations throughout the city of Regina, all the way up until 1992.
The Civic Museum is dedicated to restoring the Popcorn Wagon to become a pop up popping museum. You can help by making a donation to our GoFundMe page.
